How fresh are the rates?
Every 60 seconds on One ($18/mo), every 30 seconds on Extra ($36/mo), and every second on Premium ($54/mo).
Can I use any base currency?
Yes — any of the 170+ supported currencies can be the base for any request, on every plan.
How do I get an exchange rate API key?
Create your key in the Console — sign-up takes under a minute, needs only an email address and no credit card, and includes a 7-day trial with full-feature access.
What counts as one API call?
One HTTP request equals one call regardless of currencies returned, except fetch-matrix and fetch-many-to-one, which count one call per pair returned.
Is there an SDK?
Yes — official SDKs for PHP and Python are on our GitHub, with more languages on the way. And because the API is plain JSON over HTTPS, every other stack works out of the box: the docs carry copy-paste examples for JavaScript, Ruby and Go, and the OpenAPI spec can generate a typed client for anything else.
How do I authenticate?
Four ways: an X-API-Key header (recommended — keeps keys out of URLs and logs), an api_key query parameter, HTTP Bearer, or Basic auth. Use whichever fits your stack.
Which endpoints support minute or hourly data?
The currency /time-series endpoint is daily-only. For hourly and minute granularity, use the FX endpoints: /fx/ohlc/time-series and /fx/quote/time-series — see our FX Market Data and Historical pages.
